James Gunn recently revealed that he’s completed the second draft of Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, but one character who is still definitely not in the sequel is The Hulk.
For a long time now, there have been rumours that the movie will be a loose adaptation of Planet Hulk, especially as a complicated deal with Universal means that Marvel Studios can’t give the Green Goliath his own solo outing. However, while Bruce Banner getting lost in space in that Quinjet is a popular theory after the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron, that won’t be a plot thread Gunn picks up on.
Answering questions on Twitter today, the director confirmed that, “I will comment on it now (as I’ve done before) – there is zero chance you will see Hulk in GotGVol2.” Gunn has a great rapport with his fans, so it’s very hard to believe he would intentionally mislead them about the chances of The Hulk showing up in Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2.
Other interesting titbits revealed by the filmmaker include the fact that he’s already compiled the sequel’s soundtrack and is now waiting to get the rights for those twelve songs. Gunn also seemingly debunked speculation that Captain Marvel will be making an appearance by pointing out that, “For the time being, it’s important to me that Quill is the sole human (earthling) character.”
Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2Â is set to be released on May 5th, 2017.
