Those pesky Guardians, they just won’t stay quiet, will they? After so many months of speculation on what exactly Marvel has in store for us with their intergalactic adventure, Guardians of the Galaxy, the floodgates have been opened and now we’re being inundated with marketing material.

After the extremely impressive first trailer premiered earlier this week, we’re now receiving the very first poster, as well as a few new featurettes which introduce us to the titular heroes. Though quite brief, these videos are definitely a smart move from Marvel, considering that not many people are familiar with the comics that the film is based on. The Guardians just don’t have the same mainstream popularity as someone like Thor or Iron Man and so introducing audiences to the characters before August is likely priority number one for the film’s marketing team.

As for the poster, it’s sleek and rather simple, with the top portion boasting some of the studio’s more well-known efforts. Not sure if that’s entirely necessary, but overall I dig it. The tagline at the bottom, which reads “You’re Welcome,” is also a nice little touch.

So far, I think that Marvel is doing a great job with marketing the film and everyone seems to be very excited for it. A lot of people were on the fence when it was first announced (myself included) but at this point, it looks like most of the skeptics have been won over. Hopefully James Gunn will be able to deliver on the insane amount of hype that’s currently surrounding his film.

Guardians of the Galaxy opens on August 1st, 2014. Check out the new poster and featurettes below and let us know what you think.
