22 Jump Street Officially Begins Production

One of last year's most surprising films was the 21 Jump Street reboot, starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum. The film earned pretty positive reviews and brought in a very respectable $201 million worldwide. So, it's not too surprising that a sequel, titled 22 Jump Street, is in the works and thanks to a recent press release from Sony and MGM, we now know that the film has begun production.

One of last year’s most surprising films was the 21 Jump Street reboot, starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum. The film earned pretty positive reviews and brought in a very respectable $201 million worldwide. So, it’s not too surprising that a sequel, titled 22 Jump Street, is in the works and thanks to a recent press release from Sony and MGM, we now know that the film has begun production.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller are back behind the camera with Hill and Tatum set to reprise their roles in front. While we don’t know too much about the plot so far, we did receive the below blurb in the recent press release:

In the action-comedy 22 Jump Street, after making their way through high school (twice), big changes are in store for officers Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) when they go deep undercover at a local college.

Currently filming in New Orleans and Puerto Rico, we also found out through the press release that 22 Jump Street will be bringing Ice Cube back in the role of Captain Dickson. Unfortunately, nothing else was revealed today but with the film now in production, you can expect to hear more shortly.

For me, as long as Tatum and Hill are back in the lead roles, which they are, I don’t need anything else to get me into theatres for this one. I loved the chemistry that the two had in the first one and I find them both to be wildly entertaining performers. 21 Jump Street was a very, very funny film and with everyone back on board for the follow-up, I don’t see why it should be any different.

22 Jump Street opens on June 13th, 2014. Tell us, are you looking forward to the sequel?
