The Tarantino Star Trek Movie May Herald Zachary Quinto’s Final Bow As Spock

Per USA Today, the Quentin Tarantino Star Trek movie may herald Zachary Quinto's final appearance as everyone's favorite Vulcan, Spock.

Looks like Zachary Quinto is preparing to say his goodbyes to Star Trek and, by extension, the role of Spock. But not before he swings by Quentin Tarantino’s R-rated feature.

USA Today caught up with the actor to talk all things Star Trek, along with his attachment to In Search Of and what it was like to revive a dormant Leonard Nimoy property – incidentally, the late, great actor was best known for portraying everyone’s favorite Vulcan across screens big and small.

Speaking of Spock, Quinto told USA Today that, if he’s fortunate enough to be involved in the Tarantino spinoff – remember, there’s no guarantee that the Kelvin timeline will be woven into QT’s adult-oriented feature – it may well signal his final appearance as the franchise veteran. This is also factoring S.J. Clarkson’s nascent Star Trek 4 into the equation.

I don’t know. I’m really honored to be carrying the mantle of this character, so as long as we’re having fun and the stories feel interesting, I’m open to it. If we make a fourth one and then we do a film with Quentin, that feels like an incredibly complete experience.

It’s early, early days for Quentin Tarantino’s Star Trek movie – the only thing we know for sure is that it’ll be R rated, and it’ll see J.J. Abrams adopt a producer role – so don’t take this quote as gospel. Indeed, it was only a few months ago that Zachary Quinto admitted that the entire Kelvin crew (Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, etc.) were waiting on the call from Paramount before they could proceed with Star Trek 4.

Then again, with S.J. Clarkson behind the wheel, and Danai Gurira (The Walking Dead, Black Panther) on board to star, the franchise’s next mainline installment is simply oozing with potential. And QT’s movie? We’ll be bringing you more information as this story develops.
