Quicksilver Zips Around In New TV Spot For X-Men: Days Of Future Past

The inclusion of Quicksilver, played by Evan Peters, in X-Men: Days of Future Past was met with mixed results thanks to some pretty bad early marketing material. However, reactions to press screenings suggest that he may actually be one of the best parts of the movie. We've already seen little snippets of the character in action from the trailers, but 20th Century Fox has now decided to capitalize on the early buzz by highlighting his abilities in a new TV spot.

The inclusion of Quicksilver, played by Evan Peters, in X-Men: Days of Future Past was met with mixed results thanks to some pretty bad early marketing material. However, reactions to press screenings suggest that he may actually be one of the best parts of the movie. We’ve already seen little snippets of the character in action from the trailers, but 20th Century Fox has now decided to capitalize on the early buzz by highlighting his abilities in a new TV spot.

The footage opens with a monologue from Patrick Stewart’s Professor Xavier, but quickly shifts focus to showcase the high speed jailbreak conducted by Quicksilver. As crummy as some early stills may have looked, the character actually looks great in action, and this scene in particular looks like it could be an extremely fun sequence. Bryan Singer has directed some impressive comic book action scenes in his career (Nightcrawler’s White House raid in X2 and the airplane save in Superman Returns stand out), but this one could take the cake.

Singer has found an inventive and engaging way to showcase the power of super speed on film, meaning the ball’s now in Joss Whedon’s court to make his version of the character (played by Aaron Taylor Johnson in Avengers: Age of Ultron) even better.

X-Men: Days of Future Past arrives in theaters in exactly two weeks, on May 23rd. Has this sequence sold you on Quicksilver? Let us know in the comments below.
