Just when you thought that the casting news for Darren Aronofsky‘s upcoming biblical epic Noah was about to slow down, Deadline is reporting that Ray Winstone may hop on board.

With the film gearing up to shoot this Summer in New York and Iceland, the director is trying to assemble his cast quickly. We know that Russell Crowe will star as the titular hero and we also know that Emma Watson, Logan Lerman and Douglas Booth are all confirmed. Furthermore, Jennifer Connelly is on the fence and Julianne Moore is also said to be circling the project.

As for Winstone, he’ll play Noah’s nemesis. Other than that, no further details were given on his character.

For those keeping track at home, this is the same role that Val Kilmer and Liam Neeson were once attached to. Aronofsky has said in the past that whoever takes the part must have the  “grit and size” to go up against Crowe and that being said, I can’t think of a better choice than Winstone.

Can you?
