With Sex Tape's July release date quickly approaching, Columbia Pictures is pulling out all the stops in the latest red band trailer for the R-rated comedy. That means an overload of absolutely filthy sex jokes from stars Jason Segel and Cameron Diaz, as well as a healthy dollop of over-the-top slapstick and a few seconds of footage to highlight the movie's awesome supporting cast.

With Sex Tape‘s July release date quickly approaching, Columbia Pictures is pulling out all the stops in the latest red band trailer for the R-rated comedy. That means an overload of absolutely filthy sex jokes from stars Jason Segel and Cameron Diaz, as well as a healthy dollop of over-the-top slapstick and a few seconds of footage to highlight the movie’s awesome supporting cast.

Segel and Diaz star as a married couple facing the brutal monotony of the daily grind. After 10 years and two kids, they’re both dying for some excitement. So, when the idea of making a movie of themselves having sex in dozens of different positions comes up, the pair jump to the task with zeal – creating what looks like one of the most dirty and achingly funny sex tapes in cinematic history. When the footage is accidentally uploaded to the cloud and dispersed across the various iPads that the couple gave out as Christmas gifts to everyone from their parents to the mailman, they race to track down and destroy every existing copy. Along for the ride are two of their best friends (Rob Corddry and Ellie Kemper).

In addition to that fine quartet of comedic actors, Sex Tape also stars Rob Lowe (as Diaz’s character’s coked-up boss) and Jack Black.

Though Sex Tape looks like it will have plenty of gross-out laughs, I’m still not completely sold on it. As is often the problem with films that feature ruthlessly dirty-minded characters, whether Sex Tape will boast any heart to back up its R-rated humor remains to be seen. Hopefully, this red band trailer will get enough people in to see the movie that it doesn’t bomb – the comedy is facing stiff competition from The Purge: Anarchy (after the first one smashed past expectations, there’s no reason to expect this sequel won’t do the same), Planes: Fire and Rescue (which Sex Tape‘s target demographic might get dragged to by their kids) and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, which opens a week beforehand and is one of the summer’s biggest blockbusters.

Sex Tape opens July 18th. Check out the new trailer below and let us know what you think.
