It was only a month ago when Sons of Anarchy actor Ron Perlman took to Twitter to band together the legions of fans all vying for Hellboy 3 to be fast-tracked into production. As it turns out, the community message was met with rapturous approval, and the excitement and hope has been trucking along ever since.

Now, as the comic book industry braces itself for San Diego Comic-Con, Perlman has once again drummed up interest in the mooted sequel in a bid to get that production line back in motion once more. Speaking during a panel for Amazon series Hand Of God, here’s what the actor had to offer regarding Hellboy 3:

“If there’s a real honesty to fan culture relationships, we owe the world the finale of Hellboy. We set up the whole film. It’s a deal we made (with fans). I don’t want to do Hellboy IV or V. I want to finish the f*cking trilogy!”

As one of – if not the – biggest fan events on the planet, there is perhaps no better place to issue a battle cry than San Diego Comic-Con. With enough momentum, one can surely see studio executives standing up and taking notice of the support behind the threequel, though Perlman recently ruled out the possibility of turning to Kickstarter as an alternative.

Of course, all of this hinges on whether director Guillermo Del Toro will return to the fray to helm the project. And though he abruptly pulled out of Warner Bros.’ Justice League Dark adaptation, the beloved, eclectic filmmaker has his hands full juggling Crimson Peak and At the Mountains of Madness. If we were to entertain the thought of a Hellboy 3 being announced, it’ll likely not hit the silver screen until 2017 or 2018 – and that’s if this rallying cry hasn’t all been for naught.

What do you think, though? Do you believe Big Red and his band of supernatural buddies deserve a fitting send off with Hellboy 3? Let us know down below.
