Rumored Avengers 4 Plot Points Lend Credence To Those Time Travel Theories

The folks over at CBM have compiled all of the latest Avengers 4 rumors to produce a pretty compelling case for those time travel theories.

Infinity War hasn’t even left theaters yet and already, the onslaught of Avengers 4 rumors is becoming too much to bear.

By our calculations, there are currently 347 days standing between now and the fourth Avengers movie, so it’s nigh on certain that some of the film’s story beats will be spoiled ahead of time. But we live in hope, as Joe and Anthony Russo managed to keep much of Infinity War‘s plot under lockdown until the 11th hour.

For Avengers 4, though, it seems time travel has emerged as the most plausible theory, as it would go some way to explaining Doctor Strange’s grim prediction about Earth’s Mightiest Heroes facing odds of 14 million-to-one. Because now that he’s successfully acquired all six Infinity Stones, Thanos is ostensibly the most powerful being in the universe, and you know what they say about desperate times…

Of course, mum’s the word for Marvel’s fourth Avengers movie, though the folks over at CBM recently compiled all of the sequel’s rumored plot points to create a pretty compelling theory.

It begins with those leaked set photos of Marvel’s Phase One Avengers reliving the Battle of New York – otherwise known as the finale to The Avengers. And so, if you’ve been following the development of Avengers 4, you’ll know that Captain America (Chris Evans), Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), Bruce Banner/Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) were all pictured in their Phase One attire, and we now have reason to believe that those circular gadgets they’re wearing are actually the product of Pym Technologies.

Their purpose? To help our heroes safely traverse the Quantum Realm, while it’s been rumored that Thor, Rocket, and Captain Marvel will travel to Nidavellir in order to forge a second Infinity Gauntlet for Tony Stark. Exactly why Iron Man takes it upon himself to wield the WMD is unclear at this stage, but we imagine he’s racked with guilt and grief following the deaths of Spider-Man and, well, half of the frickin’ universe.

All of this takes place in the past, as Infinity War revealed that Nidavellir was wiped out by Thanos and the Black Order. Apparently, Thor, Rocket and Captain Marvel are successful in their mission and, at one point, our heroes control both the Space and Mind Stones, allowing them to travel to Xander in order to retrieve the Power Stone. However, this alleged story outline suggests Thanos strikes earlier than expected, leading to a huge battle.

Pretty crazy, right? Frankly, it sounds like a plot that wouldn’t look out of place in Fox’s X-Men universe, but as this is unconfirmed, we’d advise treating this rumored synopsis with heightened caution.

Come 2019, Avengers 4 will tend to unfinished business, as the remaining members of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes work to undo Thanos’ universe-wide genocide.
