Ryan Gosling & Emma Stone Won’t Star In Focus, Ben Affleck In Talks

Back in April, as I reported, rumors swirled that Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone would reunite for a third film, Focus, directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (Crazy, Stupid, Love). Unfortunately those rumors proved to be false. Even though the pair would have no doubt made good on their onscreen chemistry, somehow the casting choice didn't pan out.

Back in April, as I reported, rumors swirled that Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone would reunite for a third film, Focus, directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (Crazy, Stupid, Love). Unfortunately for fans of the duo, those rumors proved to be false.

Even though the pair would have no doubt made good on their onscreen chemistry, somehow the casting choice didn’t pan out. According to Deadline, Warner Bros. is going in a different direction completely. The studio is in talks with Ben Affleck, who is hot on the press trail for his Oscar-likely film Argo, to star in the drama. They are also currently looking for possible female leads to play the role opposite Affleck.

Focus is about a veteran con man who finds himself romantically entangled with a newcomer in the business. He decides to end things when their chosen profession add some unexpected complications to the relationship. When the pair runs into each other years later though, they find that the same problems remain.

Warner Bros. is ready to push the film into production so there’s sure to be more casting news right around the corner.
