Sandra Bullock Likely Won’t Return For The Heat 2

Despite doing well at the box office and earning mostly positive reviews from critics, it doesn't look like Sandra Bullock wants to reprise her role in a sequel to The Heat. Though nothing has been confirmed as of yet, we do know that a script for The Heat 2 has already been penned by Katie Dippold, it just hasn't been given the go ahead. At this stage though, it's only a matter of time before 20th Century Fox gives the green light.

Despite doing well at the box office and earning mostly positive reviews from critics, it doesn’t look like Sandra Bullock wants to reprise her role in a sequel to The Heat. Though nothing has been confirmed as of yet, we do know that a script for The Heat 2 has already been penned by Katie Dippold, it just hasn’t been given the go ahead. At this stage though, it’s only a matter of time before 20th Century Fox gives the green light.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Bullock revealed her thoughts about returning for a sequel, telling them the following:

“I know they say never say never, but right now, I can’t imagine it,” Bullock told EW. “I don’t want to ruin what Melissa and I had. If a miracle happens where [a script] shows up that really and truly outdid the first and provided an experience that was better than the first one, then I would look at it. But I’m not there.”

As unfortunate as that is to hear, Bullock goes on to give a good reason for not wanting to return:

“If you look back on my illustrious sequel work [laughs] nothing has proven successful,” Bullock said to EW. “A sequel is such a daunting thing, because you don’t want to lose the magic and the charm of the first one.”

This news is definitely a bit odd as one would imagine that the script for the sequel involves Bullock’s character. After all, why wouldn’t it? Her chemistry with co-star Melissa McCarthy was excellent and her presence no doubt elevated the film. Not that The Heat was a bad movie, but Bullock starring in it certainly helped.

Admittedly, Fox can always go out and find someone else to pair up with McCarthy, and the results will probably still be pretty good, but losing Bullock will definitely hurt them.
