The Internet was delighted, baffled then disappointed this past April Fool’s Day when it was revealed that Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig had secretly shot a soapy Lifetime Original Movie skewering Lifetime Original Movies, titled A Deadly Adoption, then immediately reported that Ferrell had scrapped the project over it coming into the public eye before he had wanted it to. Now, it’s been revealed that news of the pic’s abortion was premature – A Deadly Adoption has in fact been dated to premiere June 20.

The announcement came via a massive Hollywood billboard (above), depicting Ferrell and Wiig in full drama mode accompanied by the tagline, “The birth of a plan gone wrong.” In somewhat of an odd error, the billboard says that the movie premieres Sunday, June 20, when it will actually arrive Saturday, June 20 (that seems to be more of a marketing SNAFU than a little joke about marking your calendars incorrectly).

Ferrell’s original plan had been to keep the movie secret, but after the project was revealed, multiple outlets reported that the actor had decided to cancel the whole thing, despite it having already been shot. Ferrell is apparently a big fan of Lifetime movies and wanted to make his own – with an inherently satirical bent.

A Deadly Adoption centers on a married couple (Ferrell and Wiig) who decided to take a pregnant woman (Jessica Lowndes) under their wing, in hopes that they’ll be able to adopt her unborn child after it arrives. Of course, given that creepy setup, things go crazy rather quickly – and seeing as the pic is billed as a “campy, fun contemporary wink at the genre,” expect it to go over-the-top.

A Deadly Adoption arrives on Lifetime June 20.
