We’re little over a week away from the arrival of The Divergent Series: Allegiant and with it, the penultimate chapter in Summit Entertainment’s dystopian YA franchise.
Still at the crux of the series is Shailene Woodley’s battle-worn heroine Tris, who finds herself pushed into a corner by Jeff Daniels’ malevolent ruler after he deems everyone she holds nearest and dearest to be “damaged.”

By the same token, Tris is held up as the pure one – YA franchises love their messiah trope, after all – though Woodley’s protagonist soon sets about protecting her loved ones, forcing Tris beyond the walls of post-apocalyptic Chicago in search of the Bureau of Genetic Welfare.
Joining Woodley and Daniels are Theo James, Jeff Daniels, Octavia Spencer, Ray Stevenson, Zoe Kravitz, Whiplash star Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Maggie Q, Mekhi Phifer, Daniel Dae Kim and Naomi Watts.
Allegiant will not only mark the penultimate chapter in Summit Entertainment’s Divergent series, but also the last outing with Robert Schwentke at the helm. It’ll make its bow on March 18, before Ascendant brings the curtain down the following year on March 24, 2017.
