Shazam! Becomes The Justice League’s Latest Recruit With New DC Fan Art

Over on Twitter, an artist by the name of 'MessyPandas' has shared an awesome piece of Shazam! encountering the Justice League.

Overpowered and underaged, Shazam! is well on his way to becoming the DCEU’s loose cannon. And we couldn’t be more excited.

Set to light up theaters early next year – April 5th, to be specific – Shazam’s standalone pic is beginning to generate serious excitement ahead of its showcase at San Diego Comic-Con, where the Powers That Be are expected to roll out the first official trailer. So keep your peepers peeled for that one.

Before we get caught up in trailer analysis and frame-by-frame breakdowns, though, an artist by the name of MessyPandas (h/t Heroic Hollywood) has imagined the moment when Shazam! encounters the Justice League. And much like the latter’s admittedly convoluted promotional campaign, it appears as though Superman is the one taking the photo.

Feast thy eyes:

In other news, we’ve seen what EW’s recent reveal looks like through the lens of Zack Snyder and pored over Shazam!‘s official plot summary, one which all but confirms that Black Adam won’t be appearing in the 2019 pic despite rumors to the contrary. And really, that’s okay, as the Johnson-lead spinoff is still teetering on the verge of production, and will likely start shooting in earnest late next year – long after Warner’s reconfiguration of the DC Extended Universe has taken into effect.

Earlier this week, EW’s close-up unveiled the full-grown (and beefed-up) Zachary Levi as adult Billy Batson, standing next to fellow orphan Freddy Feeman (Jack Dylan of It fame). It seems Djimon Hounsou’s strange and mysterious wizard is to thank for his god-like powers, which ought to bring a breath of fresh air to the fledgling DCEU next year.

Shazam! opens big on April 5th, 2019.
