The Skrulls Are Rumored To Appear In X-Men: Dark Phoenix

Even though we've seen no shortage of movies based on Marvel properties grace cinemas in the past 20 or so years, it's only natural that certain elements have yet to be adapted to film when decades of comic book continuity exists. Having said that, we're now bracing ourselves for the possibility that the Skrulls may debut in X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

As usual, we ask that you take something like this with a grain of salt, but sources close to Universo X-Men report that a scene for Dark Phoenix was recently filmed involving Professor Xavier, Magneto, Jean Grey and Cyclops discussing mutant rights at the United Nations building. As luck would have it, an alien ship crashes the party.

Naturally, one would assume the invading forces to be the Shi’ar Empire since they were heavily featured in the comic book story arc on which the movie is based, but it was made clear that the folks wearing motion capture suits were identified as Skrulls.

Now, this isn’t exactly the alien race we expected to show up, but do note that the Skrulls – like Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch – are among the few characters that exist within a legal grey area, thus both Fox and Disney have access to them.

Still, we can’t help but recall how this entry into the franchise was previously said to be less cosmic than its source material, but that could’ve meant the action will simply be contained to Earth. Granted, this flick will boast a hefty budget, but you have to admit that travelling beyond our atmosphere would inflate that a bit.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix opens in theaters on November 2nd, 2018.
