New Solo: A Star Wars Story TV Spot Asks Us To Buckle Up

Buckle up for this new TV spot for Solo: A Star Wars Story, Ron Howard's upcoming Anthology pic that blasts into theaters on May 25th.

To say that Disney’s currently working on a number of Star Wars projects would be to deal in massive understatement.

Six years have now passed since the studio’s landmark acquisition of Lucasfilm and in that time, the Mouse House has given us three big name blockbusters in The Force AwakensRogue One, and The Last Jedi.

The fourth, aptly titled Solo: A Star Wars Story, is just around the corner (look for it to hit theaters on May 25th) and now that the Anthology pic is so close that we can almost feel the pulse energy radiating from Han’s famous blaster, Disney’s starting to kick the marketing machine into high gear.

Speaking of which, we get tons of blaster action in this newly released TV spot seen up above, which comes in at 30 seconds in length and tells us (or rather, Lando tells us) to buckle up for what’s sure to be a wild ride.

Much like Rogue One before it, Solo will be more of an old school addition to Disney’s burgeoning Star Wars franchise, so it should come as no surprise that the vast majority of the spinoff’s story takes place at a time when the Galactic Empire is just starting to reach the height of its powers. It’s also largely devoid of Jedi (at least so far as we can tell), opening up the field for a deep dive into the galaxy’s criminal underworld.

Starring alongside Alden Ehrenreich for this adventure are Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Joonas Suotamo and Paul Bettany as a seedy gangster known as Dryden Vos, whose villainy’s matched only by those nasty scars on his face.

Cometh the hour, cometh the Han. Look for Solo: A Star Wars Story to whisk viewers off on an intergalactic journey from May 25th.
