Curious to know what Peter Parker got up to in the downtime between Captain America: Civil War and Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: Homecoming? Wonder no more! For Marvel has nailed down plans to release a tie-in comic two weeks before the Tom Holland-fronted actioner swings into theaters.

Currently titled Spider-Man: Homecoming Prelude – a placeholder, in all likelihood – the prequel story is designed to shed some light on what the Wall-Crawler got up to upon his return to Queens. Judging by the Amazon description, the Prelude looks set to be a two-issue comic, with nods to both Aunt May and Parker’s web-swinging tech.

Is it possible we’ll see some of Tony Stark’s gadgets feature as well? It is a licensed spinoff from the MCU, so chances are even if Stark’s bleeding-edge tech doesn’t feature, fans will still be able to comb through the tie-in comic and unearth plenty of Easter eggs.

Here’s the official synopsis, courtesy of Amazon:

You adored his introduction in Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, you can’t wait for his Hollywood Homecoming – now really get to know the Spider-Man of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in this prelude to his big-screen solo adventure! By day, young Peter Parker attends high school and lives with his Aunt May. By night, he fights crime with wall-crawling powers and web-swinging tech – and he’s destined to one day have an amazing, spectacular, sensational reputation as his neighborhood’s friendly hero! Join Marvel’s Spider-Man as he makes his first tentative web-swings towards a blockbuster future!

July 2017 is still a ways away but already there has been chatter of a Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel. Couple this with the all-but-confirmed role in Avengers: Infinity War and Tom Holland’s future in the MCU is looking very, very bright. July 7 is the date for your diaries.
