Split Blu-Ray Will Include An Alternate Ending

You've gotta hand it to M. Night Shyamalan. Even despite the beating he's taken from critics over the years, the director never threw in the towel and now, he's in the midst of a pretty exciting comeback. His fortunes turned with the 2015 flick The Visit and with the recent release of Split, it seems that he's fully back into the swing of things, currently gearing up to bring us the long awaited Unbreakable 2.

It’s an exciting time to be a fan of the director then, and if you’re itching to check out his most recent effort again, you’ll be pleased to know that the film, which has grossed an impressive $221.9 million worldwide and scored some of the best reviews of Shyamalan’s career, will be hitting Digital HD on April 4th and Blu-ray on April 18th. Of course, it’ll come packing several special features, one of which will be an alternate ending, which should have fans excited.

A full list of what will be included can be found below:

  • Alternate Ending
  • Deleted Scenes
  • The Making of Split: Filmmakers, cast, and crew discuss what attracted them to the project and how they were able to bring such a unique premise to life
  • The Many Faces of James McAvoy: A look at how James McAvoy approached the challenge of playing so many different identities
  • The Filmmaker’s Eye – M. Night Shyamalan: Director and writer M. Night Shyamalan has a singular, big-picture vision of his projects. Producers, cast, and crew discuss how Night’s process gives them the freedom to execute their roles to the fullest

There’s not a ton here, but the alternate ending will certainly be interesting, given how much conversation Split‘s conclusion generated. In case you’re not in the know, it featured an appearance from Bruce Willis’ Unbreakable character David Dunn, thus teeing up the forthcoming sequel and dropping the bombshell that both films are set in the same cinematic universe.

Aside from that, it’ll be nice to get a deeper look into Shyamalan’s process with that last feature, while the deleted scenes might provide a few more clues as to what we should expect from the next entry in this newly formed series, which will continue with Unbreakable 2. Overall, it’s a decent package that fans of the film should definitely consider picking up next month.

In fact, we’ve decided to make it a little easier on your wallets by offering up a copy of Split on Blu-ray via the contest below. Enter to win and be sure to check your Twitter DMs, as we’ll be notifying one lucky individual at the end of the month.

Good luck!
