Star Wars Databank Confirms Mysterious “Connection” Between Rey And Kylo Ren

Though director J.J. Abrams has already confirmed that the force-wielding Jakku scavenger and the evil son of Han Solo and Princess Leia only laid eyes on each other for the first time during The Force Awakens, it was definitely hinted that the two principal Star Wars characters shared some kind of bond, or possibly prior knowledge of one another's existence, at least. This has led to various fan-theories about the duo, the most prevalent of which suggests that they are actually related by blood.

Whether that turns out to be the case or not remains to be seen, but a recent update to the databanks over at StarWars.com certainly seems to confirm that there is something between Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) that has yet to be uncovered. For the latter, they add that Ren noticed a “mysterious connection” that linked him to Rey when he captured her at Maz’s castle, while Rey’s profile now reads that she also shares a “strange connection” with the former Ben Solo. While it seems unlikely that the two are siblings, this might give credence to speculation that they’re cousins, and Rey is, in fact, the daughter of Luke Skywalker.

That’s far from confirmed, of course, and this “connection” between the characters may have its origins in the force as opposed to some kind of familial bond – but either way, we’re bound to get some answers when the next installment of the main Star Wars saga, The Last Jedi, hits theaters this December. In the meantime, feel free to speculate in the comments section down below and share with us your thoughts on this mysterious connection.
