Star Wars: Episode IX May Include A Character From The Clone Wars

Episode IX, the conclusion to Disney's Star Wars Sequel Trilogy, is set to begin filming this summer ahead of its release on December 20th, 2019. At the moment, very little's known about director J.J. Abrams' second flick set in that galaxy far, far away, but it was recently leaked on Reddit that a character from 2008's The Clone Wars could be set to make an appearance.

The character in question is Rotta, son of notorious crime lord Jabba the Hutt. If you’ll recall, Rotta was kidnapped by the Separatist Alliance in The Clone Wars, but Anakin Skywalker rescued him with help from a new Padawan, Ahsoka Tano. From there, Rotta reunites with his father and his story concludes. According to this new leak, however, the Huttlet is set to return as an adult in Episode IX and forge an alliance with Leia Organa’s Resistance.

If true, this would be pretty interesting to see. For one, it’d connect Episode IX to the larger Star Wars universe and also has the potential to reveal what became of the Hutts following their loss of power prior to The Force Awakens. Not only that, but it’d open up the possibility for some great character building. After all, people will definitely want to know why Rotta’s helping Leia’s forces if he’s aware of the role their leader played in his father’s death.

All that being said, there’s a very real chance this leak could be fake. After all, J.J. Abrams is known to release false information to keep fans oblivious to the actual content of his films. At the same time, though, legitimate material concerning that galaxy far, far away has found its way onto Reddit in the past, so who knows?

For now, only time will tell if the information concerning Rotta the Hutt’s role in Star Wars: Episode IX is genuine or not, but until we get some kind of confirmation, feel free to share your thoughts on it in the comments section down below.
