Suicide Squad Director David Ayer Teases Identity Of Villain

It’s no secret that Warner’s marketing pizazz for Suicide Squad has doubled down on Task Force X. Held up as the worst of the worst, David Ayer’s roster of anti-heroes are each so eccentric – so larger than life – that it’s almost difficult to imagine a villain giving the black ops group a run for their money.

But that’s something Ayer touched upon in an interview with Total Film. When quizzed about the strange foes that crop up in those stylish Suicide Squad trailers, the director went on to tease the identity of the villain – and no, it’s not Jared Leto’s Clown Prince of Crime.

Mild spoilers to follow…..

Indeed, it’s a small miracle that the majority of Suicide Squad‘s story has remained under wraps, and though reports have suggested it is Cara Delevingne’s Enchantress who drives a wedge between Task Force X, David Ayer zeroed in on the mutated henchmen, who he refers to as the “Eyes of the Adversary.”

Bouncing off this, DC producer Charles Roven also hinted at the suicide mission that awaits:

“Let’s just say, when they’re called in to do this mission by Amanda [Waller], these are one of the things they encounter. They don’t know how they got here, but they’re weird and dangerous and yet they’re wearing military uniforms.”

On the casting docket for Warner Bros.’ anti-hero spinoff are Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, the high-ranking government official who births the black ops group in the first place.

Look for Suicide Squad to blow the doors off the DC Extended Universe on August 5.
