The first teaser poster for Oblivion, the highly anticipated Tom Cruise-starring sci-fi film, has arrived today. Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the man behind the visually interesting but ultimately underwhelming TRON: Legacy, Oblivion has been a long time coming and it’s great to finally see the first piece of marketing for the film.

For those who haven’t been keeping up. Oblivion will be set in the future where people live in a floating city. Tom Cruise will play a “drone repairmen whose life changes when he comes across a crashed spacecraft.” I know, it’s not much to go on, but with a trailer set to arrive on Sunday you can expect more on the film in the very near future.

Co-starring with Cruise are Morgan Freeman, Melissa Leo, Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough and Nikolaj-Coster-Waldau. That, coupled with a script by Oscar-winner William Monahan, has me very excited for this one. Plus, who doesn’t like a good post-apocalyptic sci-fi epic? Especially when done right. It’s clear that a lot of time and money is being put into this film and I don’t think that the studio is going to drop the ball here. Everything we’ve seen and heard has inspired a lot of confidence in me and I can’t wait for that first trailer.

Check out the first teaser poster and official plot summary for Tom Cruise‘s Oblivion below and let us know what you think in the comments section.

Jack Harper (Cruise) is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack’s mission is nearly complete.

Living in and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands.
