As one of the early additions to Ben Affleck’s standalone movie, Manganiello has been fielding questions ever since – questions about the Caped Crusader and, crucially, when The Batman will be brought before the cameras. Truth be told, that’s a saga that has arguably blown out of proportion in recent months, and it’s small wonder why Affleck has since shut up shop.

To his credit, the writer-director accepts the pressure that comes hand-in-hand with tackling what is essentially one of the most iconic characters in comic book history, but fans can at least take solace in the fact that Affleck will next don the cape and cowl for Zack Snyder’s Justice League in November.

Circling back to Manganiello, though, the former True Blood star flirted with the superhero genre before – and that’s not counting his role in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy. During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the towering actor touched base on why he believes the time is right to suit up for The Batman.

“Growing up an avid comic book fan, and then there were a lot of superhero roles, and supervillain roles, that came my way that I said no to, or wasn’t allowed to do, because of other commitments. It’s just really exciting to think that this is the one. I’m glad everybody’s happy. I’m just gonna put my head down and just really show up as prepared as any supervillain ever has.”

If early reports are to be believed, we may well see Manganiello make his Deathstroke debut in Justice League. Currently pegged for November 17th, Zack Snyder’s ensemble movie is not lacking in top-tier talent, so assuming those rumors hold true, it’ll be interesting to see how Manganiello’s villain factors into the equation. Until such a time as we have those answers for you, you can catch a glimpse of that aforementioned fan art below.
