Things Get Bloody In Awesome New Trailer For The Predator

Having seen the original Predator wreak havoc back in '88 with his own eyes, Shane Black knows a thing or two about cinema's ugliest motherfucker. Which is why we're cautiously optimistic that his star-studded reboot, simply titled The Predator, will be able to deliver the goods when it lands in theaters later this year.

Having watched the original Predator wreak havoc back in ’87 with his own eyes, director Shane Black knows a thing or two about cinema’s ugliest motherfucker. Which is why we’re hopeful that his star-studded reboot, simply titled The Predator, will be able to deliver the goods when it claws its way into cinemas later this year.

Featuring a who’s who of A-list talent (Boyd Holbrook, Sterling K. Brown and Olivia Munn, to name just a couple), this is a franchise revival that hopes to set things right after Nimród Antal’s misguided reboot from 2010, and it seems that Black and co-writer Fred Dekker have but one goal: make the Predator great again. Such a back-to-basics approach has resulted in a film that’s oozing with sci-fi horror and gritty action, and up above you can lay eyes on the latest trailer, which doesn’t feature much in the way of new footage – unfortunately – but does tease what’s sure to be an electrifying ride come September.

After watching this, it’s no wonder the horror/thriller is among some of the most-anticipated pics of fall 2018 – ditto for VenomThe Nun and Halloween, which are all poised to drop in and around the same window – and now that we’re quickly approaching its release, things are really beginning to heat up in terms of marketing.

Among the cast list for The Predator are Olivia Munn, Keegan-Michael Key, Black Panther‘s Sterling K. Brown, Trevante Rhodes, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, Edward James Olmos, Alfie Allen of Game of Thrones fame and Yvonne Strahovski. Meanwhile, Jake Busey plays the son of Gary Busey’s character from Predator 2, proving Shane Black was still able to sprinkle some nostalgia over his R-rated reboot.

Dubbed to be an “explosive reinvention” of the sci-fi classic, it appears as if the director’s stripped away most of the CG carnage in favor of old-school scares, which is something else that’s evident here. And if you’re still hungry for additional info, be sure to check out the plot synopsis below, which outlines the movie’s premise.

The universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.

On September 14th, The Predator strikes, and you’ll never see him coming…
