By our calculations, we are exactly 283 days out from the launch of Avengers 4, and while Captain Marvel looks set to deliver the goods early next year, there’s an air of palpable anticipation hanging over Earth’s Mightiest Heroes (or what’s left of them) and their next big-screen adventure.
Hell, one need only take one glance into the Marvel Studios subreddit to see all of the many fan theories pertaining to Avengers 4 and its mysterious plot which will, for better or worse, tee up the next chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe come 2019.
Suffice it to say, there’s currently a lot riding on the untitled blockbuster, though the fact that Joe and Anthony Russo wrangled Infinity War into a compelling and coherent two-and-a-half-hour movie leaves us feeling pretty confident about Avengers 4, no matter how things pan out for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
Speaking of which, we know a fair number of our characters were reduced to ash by the time Infinity War reached its bleak finale, and it’s this dramatic dusting effect that informs the following fan-made intro for Avengers 4, which comes to us by way of Reddit user ‘NedLeeds1’ (h/t MCU Cosmic):

Pretty cool, no? We’d even go so far as to argue that this proof-of-concept is good enough to be the real deal, as the dusting effect is quickly followed by the revelation that Avengers 4 kicks off four years after its predecessor. Granted, that alleged time jump is yet to be confirmed, but it certainly makes sense when one factors in the post-credits scenes to Ant-Man and the Wasp, which left Scott Lang floating around the Quantum Realm without a paddle.
So by the time Avengers 4 graces theaters on May 3rd, 2019, perhaps Scott will emerge to a world devastated – or cleansed, as the Mad Titan would say – by Thanos’ finger snap? We can only speculate at this early stage.
