Thor Sees A Friend From Work In New Ragnarok TV Spot

With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 now in the rearview mirror, Marvel has begun to focus their efforts elsewhere. Namely, on Thor: Ragnarok. Though the film is still pretty far off – with a November 3rd release date locked in – it’s a big project for the studio given that the first two Thor movies are often regarded as some of the MCU’s weaker efforts. As such, there’s a lot of pressure on Taika Waititi’s threequel to turn things around for the God of Thunder and understandably, Marvel is doing everything in their power to make sure that the third time’s the charm for the hero.

While the marketing blitz has yet to truly kick off in earnest, we are starting to get a few bits of promotional material here and there and today, we’ve got another new preview to feast on.

Following on from that explosive first trailer which nearly broke the internet a few months ago, Marvel has now released another promo for Thor: Ragnaork, giving us a look at what might just be one of 2017’s best comic book movies. A bold claim, to be sure, especially when you consider what else is cramming up the slate, but it’s one that very well could end up being true by the time December rolls around.

As far as this recently released preview goes, it unfortunately doesn’t feature any new footage, instead choosing to just recut what we’ve already seen into a truly tantalizing promo and allowing us to relive all of those awesome moments from the first trailer. While it would have been nice to get something we haven’t yet seen, it’s understandable that Marvel is taking their time here and honestly, we’re quite alright with that. What they’ve shown us so far has been hugely impressive and has us feeling very optimistic about the film. Besides, the studio still has Spider-Man: Homecoming to worry about first. Once that’s out of the way, though, then you can bet that the true marketing assault will begin – and we’re more than ready for it.

Slotting into a similar release window as Scott Derrickson’s Doctor Strange – for the record, the mystical origin story went on to become Marvel’s biggest single-character launch, financially speaking – the galactic threequel will have the God of Thunder embark on his craziest adventure yet. Soon after Hela (Cate Blanchett) brings Asgard to its knees, Chris Hemsworth’s Avenger is banished to some far-flung corner of the universe, where he’s forced to fight in a gladiatorial arena aboard Sakaar. It’s here, a million miles from home, that our hero encounters an old frenemy in the form of Mark Ruffalo’s Incredible Hulk. “We know each other! He’s a friend from work.” Cue the fireworks.

On November 3rd, Thor: Ragnarok will push Chris Hemsworth’s Norse god to the absolute brink, shattering Mjolnir into a million pieces in the process. Taika Waititi is behind the lens for this one, who has continually impressed moviegoers through the likes of What We Do in the Shadows and the really rather excellent Hunt For the Wilderpeople. As such, we’re definitely excited to see what he’s done with the upcoming threequel.
