Thor: The Dark World Reveals New Images Of Christopher Eccleston As Malekith The Accursed

Marvel's Cinematic Universe has of late been at the centre of much rumour and anticipation. Will Robert Downey Jr. return and clear a check that could wipe most third world countries out of debt? Will Guardians Of The Galaxy contain every villain imaginable being played by the least likely actors? Amidst all this excitement for Marvel's Phase Three we'd sort of forgotten about their next release. Thor: The Dark World is still six months away from our cinema screens and marks the second film out of the gates for Phase Two. Just in time to get us prepared for the God Of Thunder's return, the latest issue of Empire has a crop of new images.

Marvel’s Cinematic Universe has of late been at the centre of much rumour and anticipation. Will Robert Downey Jr. return and clear a check that could wipe most third world countries out of debt? Will Guardians Of The Galaxy contain every villain imaginable being played by the least likely actors? Amidst all this excitement for Marvel’s Phase Three we’d sort of forgotten about their next release.

Thor: The Dark World is still six months away from our cinema screens and it marks the second film out of the gates for Phase Two. Just in time to get us prepared for the God Of Thunder’s return, the latest issue of Empire has a crop of new images.

The first look at Christopher Eccleston as the Dark Elf Malekith appeared in the teaser trailer back in April but today, we’ve got a better look at Malekith The Accursed and a gaggle of his Dark Elf minions swanning about being villainous. The main photo of Eccleston has a caption pinned to it which reveals that he is carrying “his dark matter energy gun.” Ooh err. That sounds terribly dangerous. Probably shouldn’t be in the hands of a dastardly chap. You can scope out all of the new images below.

To round out the news with a bang, Marvel have also launched the official website for the film. As it sits astride the web now, there’s little content included on it that’s not circulated elsewhere. This will be the best place to keep a watch for news of a full trailer though, which should be arriving in the next couple of months.

Eccleston and his team of evil elves will join Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Jaimie Alexander, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano, Jaimie Alexander, Rene Russo, and Anthony Hopkins. Phew.

Thor: The Dark World opens on November 8th, 2013.
