Time Is Of The Essence In Terminator: Genisys Motion Poster; First Trailer Arrives On Thursday

Time heals all wounds, as they saying goes. But a new motion poster for Alan Taylor's Terminator: Genisys flips that old adage on its head by showcasing a menacing, skeletal T-800 model slowly dissolve into the sand of an hour glass, not-so-subtly kicking off a countdown for the film's maiden trailer.

Time heals all wounds, as they saying goes. But a new motion poster for Alan Taylor’s Terminator: Genisys flips that old adage on its head by showcasing a menacing, skeletal T-800 model slowly dissolve into the sand of an hour glass, not-so-subtly kicking off a countdown for the film’s maiden trailer.

Set to debut across the Internet on Thursday, December 4th, the footage will provide fans with their very first look at the reboot-cum-sequel, which stars Game of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney and Matt Smith. Up until this point, it’s fair to say that Genisys‘ marketing campaign has been met with some suspicion, with many questioning the innate changes that Paramount Pictures has made to the franchise’s core legacy — rather than happening across Schwarzenegger’s cyborg killer at a later stage, Genisys will see Emilia Clarke’s grow up in the shadow of the Terminator from the age of 9.

It’s a bold change, no doubt, and the studio will be hoping to reassure longtime fans of the seminal sci-fi franchise that Taylor’s movie — which will kickstart a whole new trilogy in the war against Skynet — won’t taint the legacy of a classic.

Terminator: Genisys will arrive in theaters on July 1, 2015. Be sure to check back on Thursday when we’ll have coverage of the film’s maiden trailer for you to enjoy.

The beginning of Terminator: Genisys, the first of three planned films that Paramount hopes will relaunch the beloved sci-fi franchise, is set in 2029, when the Future War is raging and a group of human rebels has the evil artificial-intelligence system Skynet on the ropes. John Connor (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ Jason Clarke) is the leader of the resistance, and Kyle Reese (Divergent‘s Jai Courtney) is his loyal soldier, raised in the ruins of post apocalyptic California. As in the original film, Connor sends Reese back to 1984 to save Connor’s mother, Sarah (Game of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke), from a Terminator programmed to kill her so that she won’t ever give birth to John. But what Reese finds on the other side is nothing like he expected.
