Tons Of New Pics Released From Dredd 3D

Today, several new photos from the film have been released featuring Karl Urban as the titular Dredd, as well as Lena Heady and Olivia Thirlby. They range from action-packed to characters standing around to landscapes, but they also show that they've really got the look down for the film.

Not long ago, we had the first trailer drop for the remake of Judge Dredd, which is simply being called Dredd 3D. It was less than stellar to say the least, though some folks seemed to get a kick out of it. The film also recently screened at Comic-Con, resulting in a mostly positive reaction.

Today, several new photos from the film have been released featuring Karl Urban as the titular Dredd, as well as Lena Heady and Olivia Thirlby. They range from action-packed to characters standing around doing nothing. Most of all though, they show that the filmmakers have really got the look down for the film.

There was a similar look to the original film that starred Sylvester Stallone, which was an incredibly cheesy movie, though there was some fun to be had with it. A remake could improve upon it, but hopefully it’s not going for a duplication of the overrated The Raid: Redemption, as the trailer seems to be implying.

In case you’re not familiar with the film, here’s the official synopsis:

Dredd takes place on a fictional Earth created as a result of the Atomic Wars. Survivors of this period are living in Mega-Cities, which protects its citizens from the Cursed Earth, a radioactive desert environment populated by mutants. The main story takes place in Mega-City One, where the police who are now called judges have the power to use police brutality to some extent to fight extreme murders. One man, Judge Dredd (Karl Urban), a senior law enforcement officer, teams up with a cadet called Judge Anderson (Olivia Thirlby) to track down a terrorist organization lead by Ma-Ma (Lena Headey), who is responsible for selling a reality-altering drug called Slo-Mo.

Dredd 3D hits theaters on September 21, 2012.
