Sebastian Stan in Captain America: The Winter Soldier

New Trailer Reimagines Captain America: The Winter Soldier As A Horror Movie

Even with several spectacular films following in its footsteps since its release in April of 2014, Captain America: The Winter Solider remains my favorite movie to have been produced by Marvel Studios. After all, it's one of the more serious flicks the brand has had to offer, featured great character arcs and political intrigue, and served as a game-changer for the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole. I mean, what's not to love here?

Having been inspired by the work of Ed Brubaker – which I maintain was the best Captain America comic book run ever – the Russo Brothers forever made their mark on the MCU by having Sebastian Stan reprise his role of Bucky Barnes – but with a bit of a twist.

You see, after being presumed dead after plummeting into a chasm in World War II, Barnes was then brainwashed and given some enhancements by the Russians, in addition to being rechristened as “the Winter Soldier.” And every so often, he’d be taken out of his stasis chamber in order to carry out high profile assassinations. Of course, it wouldn’t be long before Hydra poached him for their own sinister purposes.

Having said all that, it comes as no surprise that someone would recut footage to effectively frame Captain America: The Winter Soldier as a horror movie. And when you really think about it, stripping away any scenes showing Bucky as being redeemable makes him appear almost Terminator-like. Perhaps that’s what the folks at Project ? Hello had in mind when putting this trailer together?

Either way, it’s pretty cool and definitely worth a watch.
