As we get closer and closer to the release of the first part of Peter Jackson’s epic adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit, it seems like we’ve been getting more and more material for the film. Just the other day, we unveiled the entire score and closing song for your listening pleasure, and not long before that, we had a massive gallery of behind the scenes photos showing everything from sets to concept drawings.
Now we have two more TV spots to add onto the several that have already been released thus far. However, these are a bit different in that they actually include a good deal of new footage, the first one in particular. Just from Bilbo’s dialogue alone, you get the sense of how epic their adventure is.
They also include another good look at the splash of humor that has been placed into the story, which you can see permeates it even when Bilbo’s trying to be absolutely serious about his desire to help the dwarves.
We already know that Warner Bros. has launched an awards campaign for the film as evident by its placement on their awards site, so apparently they have a bit of confidence in it. According to the site, the film will be screened as early as December 2nd (though, given how early some critics groups have their awards, it could be a little earlier), so perhaps we’ll finally hear something about it around then as to just how good a chance it will have against the other major players this awards season.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which stars Martin Freeman, Sir Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, and Andy Serkis, finally arrives in theaters on December 14th.
How excited are you for The Hobbit? Do you think it will have a chance in some of the major categories this awards season, or will its best chances remain in the technical areas? Check out the TV spots below and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
