Vision And Scarlet Witch’s Relationship Brings A Human Element To Avengers: Infinity War

Though the film itself may be larger than life, the relationship between Vision and Scarlet Witch will bring a human element to Avengers: Infinity War.

While the MCU has frequently done its own thing when it comes to the love lives of the Avengers (*cough* Brutasha *cough*), one romance that will be retained from the comics is that between Scarlet Witch and Vision. Fans might have expected a love story between a super-sorceress and an android to be too weird for general audiences, but it turns out that Avengers: Infinity War will definitely explore this relationship – and quite a bit, too.

Already, we’ve heard that both characters will have very important arcs in the event movie and as we draw closer to its release, we’re learning more and more about what role they’ll play in the proceedings. And from the sounds of it, their arc is definitely going to be one of the highlights.

Speaking at a recent fan screening, Elizabeth Olsen explained that Vision and Scarlet Witch’s relationship actually humanizes the film. Which is a bit odd when you consider that one’s an android and the other’s a witch whose abilities include telekinesis, telepathy, and energy manipulation. But hey, that just goes to show how larger than life Infinity War is.

“It was my favorite arc, thus far, playing the character. It was really nice to get to work with Paul and it was really nice to explore this dynamic of a relationship before utter chaos. It adds a more human stake, element, because it’s hard to just have the stakes of saving the universe. It’s a lot more tangible to have the stakes of trying to be with a partner.”

Bettany chimed in on Vision and Wanda’s relationship as well, saying that it’s a nice way in for the audience, echoing Olsen’s comments about how it gives the story more of a human element.

“I think it’s a nice way in for an audience. Not many people have been a Norse God, but a lot of people have fallen in love, you know what I mean? So I think it’s a nice way in, a human way in, with a witch and an artificial [being].”

While it certainly sounds like big things lie ahead for these lovebirds, their story might be brought to a premature end if Thanos gets his hands on the Mind Stone that resides in Vision’s head, so we’ll just have to wait and see if this romance stands the test of time when Avengers: Infinity War hits cinemas on April 27th.
