20th Century Fox’s marketing pizazz for Deadpool continues apace today, with Entertainment Weekly sharing a pair of new images that showcase Ryan Reynolds in and out of the famous costume as former special force operative, Wade Wilson.

Though recent tidbits have focused on the cocksure mercenary and his irreverent sense of humor, today’s stills offer a new look at the action in Tim Miller’s R-rated feature film.

The first of which is essentially a screengrab from the film’s riotous festive trailer, featuring the Merc with a Mouth calling upon his trusty katana swords to battle Ajax (Ed Skrein). It’s a stylish action shot, though the scene isn’t without its sly one-liners, with Reynolds revealing to EW that the set of Deadpool quickly transformed into an alternative joke factory as the weeks wore on.

“Ed got yoked for the movie. I saw his arms and got pretty upset at myself for not working out harder.” Of course, there are still plenty of jokes to go along with the action! “[The set] was an alternate-joke factory,” he adds. “For one joke in the movie we wrote 16 versions.”

Now that we’ve seen a slew of new images for Deadpool, we can look forward to Empire’s coverage peeling back new layers of Miller’s no-holds-barred rendition of the infamous mercenary. Heck, the issue hasn’t even hit store shelves and already it’s caught our eye with its meta nature.

Deadpool blasts into theaters chimichanga in hand on February 12, 2016 in North America.

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
