Is Black Panther‘s Michael B. Jordan the man to replace Henry Cavill as the next Superman?

According to Deadline, it’s not as bizarre as it sounds, given Jordan is allegedly the early frontrunner to take point as the fresh-faced Man of Steel further down the road. And that’s just it.

Warner Bros. isn’t expected to launch a new standalone Superman movie for at least several years, what with the studio’s resources now being dedicated to the planned Supergirl origin story from 22 Jump Street scribe Oren Uziel. So even if Michael B. Jordan is in contention for the coveted gig as Deadline suggests, it’ll be some time yet before he makes the jump from Marvel to DC – long after Avengers 4 zooms into theaters and (potentially) heralds the return of Killmonger by means of time travel…

Because after three DC movies – namely Man of Steel, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and the ill-fated Justice League – Henry Cavill is all but finished with the cape and spandex, leaving behind a gaping hole in Warner’s superhero franchise, which, coupled with Ben Affleck’s impending departure, means the studio is on the verge of a hard reset.

Save for Aquaman, Shazam!, Joker and Wonder Woman 1984, the entire DC Films universe is in the process of being overhauled. So while select projects are being shelved (see: Nightwing), other movies are beginning to take precedence at Warner Bros., such as the aforementioned Supergirl spinoff and Birds of Prey, which heralds the long-awaited crossover involving Harley Quinn and her fellow anti-heroes.

But what do you think of Michael B. Jordan possibly replacing Henry Cavill as the next Superman? You can, as always, share your thoughts and predictions via the comments section.
