Watch The Extended TV Spot For The Amazing Spider-Man 2

While we're all excited to go see Captain America: The Winter Soldier this weekend, Sony would like to remind us that they too still have control of a Marvel franchise. In fact, they've been reminding us of that fact for what seems like years now. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will hit theatres in May, and while Sony has promised that there will be no more trailers in advance of the big day, they never said anything about extended TV spots!

While we’re all excited to go see Captain America: The Winter Soldier this weekend, Sony would like to remind us that they too still have control of a Marvel franchise. In fact, they’ve been reminding us of that fact for what seems like years now. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will hit theatres in May, and while Sony has promised that there will be no more trailers in advance of the big day, they never said anything about extended TV spots!

The latest bit of promotional material for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 gives us even MORE web-slinging action than the previous, shorter international TV spots that I’m sure you’ve been keeping track of. Spidey is the only one who can save the city – as opposed to Iron Man, who is the only one who can save the world, and Thor, who is the only one who can save the universe – and he’s out to do just that by catching cars, fighting with childhood friends, and chatting with an electrified Jamie Foxx. Not all is fun and games for the hero, of course – he also has to sweep the chimney for Aunt May, even though they don’t have a chimney. Brilliant.

Although I am admittedly facetious about this franchise, it’s more due to the sheer number of scenes that Sony has released in an effort to push the film down the public’s throat than to any lack of desire to actually see it. I happen to like Andrew Garfield, and I enjoyed The Amazing Spider-Man. But seriously, Sony, we get it. It’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2. We know exactly what we’re bargaining for. Chill out.

If you have yet to get enough of your favorite web-slinger, and cannot possibly wait less than a month for the movie to come to cinemas, then check out the latest TV spot below.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 arrives in theatres on May 2.
