The world at large has been expecting to see some footage from the movie ever since a special presentation was played for the crowd at this summer’s San Diego Comic-Con. However, that particular trailer never dropped online (at least, not in any official capacity). Eventually, reports started appearing that pointed to the first bit of footage arriving in December, but some tongue-in-cheek posts on the Russo brothers’ Instagram account revealed that it would actually be here towards the end of November and now, here we are, with our hands finally on this absolutely epic preview.

Avengers: Infinity War, and its upcoming untitled sequel, Avengers 4, are being talked about as the culmination of everything the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been building up to over the past ten years, ever since Tony Stark first made himself a metal suit of armor back in 2008’s Iron Man. As such, it’s set to feature the largest collection of heroes we’ve ever seen on the big screen.

In fact, a few months ago, the Russos confirmed that the team-up movie would boast a whopping 60 characters, with one scene bringing together a whole 30 of them. We got our first taste of seeing the union of the Marvel universe in an awesome photo shoot earlier this week, courtesy of Vanity Fair, but now with this first trailer, we get to see almost everyone in action (though there are still a few notable characters missing) and it’s definitely a sight to behold.

As expected, the preview doesn’t give us much in the way of plot, but we know that Infinity War will begin with the Avengers disassembled, following their bust-up in Captain America: Civil War. In particular, a bearded Steve Rogers, a blonde Black Widow and more are in hiding now that they’re fugitives. However, the heroes will have to put aside their differences and stand shoulder to shoulder again when Josh Brolin’s Thanos comes a-knocking, looking to unite the six Infinity Stones to power his Infinity Gauntlet, and therefore gain mastery over the universe.

Now that the trailer’s here, we only have a few short months left until Avengers: Infinity War arrives in theaters – on May 4th, 2018 – and judging by this first bit of footage, it truly will be an event movie unlike any other.
