New White House Down Poster Shows Off The Calm Before The Storm

A new poster has emerged today for that other “White House under attack movie” aka White House Down. Last week saw the release of Olympus Has Fallen, the Gerard Butler-starring White House flick. It opened to mostly positive reviews and proved to be an enjoyable action romp with some kick-ass fight scenes and strong direction from Antoine Fuqua.

White House Down, though it has an identical plot, will likely take a different approach to the tale. It comes to us from director Roland Emmerich and stars Channing Tatum, Jamie Foxx and Maggie Gyllenhaal. We haven’t seen an official trailer yet and considering the film is only a few months away, we really haven’t seen much at all from it. With this first poster though, it looks like the marketing campaign is starting to kick into gear and I’m guessing we’ll be seeing a lot more from this film in the coming weeks.

Personally, I’m excited for this one. I thought Olympus Has Fallen, despite some dumb dialogue and overall silliness, was an enjoyable film, one which I had a lot of fun watching. White House Down will likely be just as enjoyable, given its appealing cast and Emmerich’s penchant for providing entertaining disaster flicks. Plus, I’m really enjoying Tatum’s work lately, he’s proving himself to be capable in almost every genre and seeing him lead an action flick should be good fun.

I’m not sure if the film will take the same gritty, hardened approach that Fuqua’s take did but either way, the premise itself is entertaining enough to make this one worth checking out.

Check out the first poster below and let us know what you think in the comments. Do you like the poster? Will you be seeing the film when it hits theatres?

White House Down opens on June 28th, 2013.
