Another Important Wonder Woman Star Will Return For Justice League

As we already know from the trailers, Wonder Woman's tribe of Amazons will make an appearance in the upcoming Justice League. It's also been confirmed that Diana's mother, Queen Hippolyta, will return for the team-up movie as well, once again played by Connie Nielsen. Now, we're learning that another character who just debuted in Wonder Woman will feature in the Zack Snyder-helmed blockbuster, too.

As we already know from the trailers, Wonder Woman‘s tribe of Amazons will make an appearance in the upcoming Justice League. It’s also been confirmed that Diana’s mother, Queen Hippolyta, will return for the team-up movie as well, once again played by Connie Nielsen. Now, we’re learning that another character who just debuted in Wonder Woman will feature in the Zack Snyder-helmed blockbuster, too.

Speaking to The Los Angeles Times, Nielsen let slip that Robin Wright will appear in Justice League alongside her. The interview was between herself, Wright and Gal Gadot, and here’s what the actress had to say:

Gadot: “Of course; the mother and daughter relationship is always a beautiful but complex relationship. I think that there’s a lot more to explore.”

Nielsen: “And [Wright and I] got to do more in Justice League as well. As sisters as well. Kind of badass as well. We can’t say much, but …”

Wright: “And more of the story, you get some of the history.”

This isn’t a major surprise, but it’s welcome news all the same. Wright’s comment about the movie exploring some of the characters’ “history” also confirms what fans had suspected about the Amazons’ role in Justice League. It’s likely that they’ll appear in flashback form, detailing an incident from hundreds of years ago where the peoples of Themyscira, Atlantis and Man’s World united to fight Darkseid’s Parademons. Though the world was protected at the time, the movie will of course see the forces of Apokolips return to give the Earth another go.

Sadly, this could well be the last time we see Robin Wright appear in the DCEU. In Wonder Woman – spoiler alert! – her character, General Antiope, dies in battle fighting the German forces. She was a brilliantly tough role model for Diana though, so at least the character’s got one last hurrah to come.

Justice League arrives in theatres on November 17th.
