Vin Diesel’s xXx: The Return of Xander Cage Locked For January 2017 Release

It’s official: Vin Diesel’s long-rumored action sequel xXx: The Return of Xander Cage finally has a release date to call its own – January 20, 2017.

Paramount Pictures made the announcement, after recently closing a deal to distribute the sequel-cum-reboot domestically. D.J. Caruso (I Am Number Four) is at the helm, welcoming back Diesel’s Xander Cage – who was presumed dead the last time the action franchise appeared on the big screen in State of the Union – for a fresh batch of explosive action sequences and gruff one-liners.

Dusting himself off from a seemingly one-way trip to Bora Bora, Cage reluctantly reprises his role as a government agent, accepting a mission that sends him off on the hunt for an elusive weapon known as Pandora’s Box.

Joining Diesel for The Return of Xander Cage are Bollywood star Deepika Padukone, Toni Collette, the returning Samuel L. Jackson, Furious 7 co-star Tony Jaa, Conor McGregor, Nina Dobrev and Andrey Ivchenko as the film’s big bad.

Filming is currently underway on xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, with Vin Diesel keeping up tradition by sharing scores of set photos from production – the most recent of which featured series newcomer Donnie Yen. Caruso’s white-knuckle ride makes a beeline for theaters on January 20, 2017.

The third explosive chapter of the blockbuster franchise that redefined the spy thriller finds extreme athlete turned government operative Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) coming out of self-imposed exile and on a collision course with deadly alpha warrior Xiang and his team in a race to recover a sinister and seemingly unstoppable weapon known as Pandora’s Box. Recruiting an all-new group of thrill-seeking cohorts, Xander finds himself enmeshed in a deadly conspiracy that points to collusion at the highest levels of world governments. Packed with the series’ signature deadpan wit and bad-ass attitude, “xXx: THE RETURN OF XANDER CAGE” will raise the bar on extreme action with some of the most mind-blowing stunts to ever be caught on film.
