Zack Snyder Confirms He’s Still A Producer On Wonder Woman 2

Given how the theatrical cut of Justice League was hardly his movie at all, after Warner Bros. ordered replacement director to reshoot much of the production, you'd think that Zack Snyder would have completely washed his hands with the DCEU. Especially now that we've heard he's found his next project in the form of an adaptation of Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead. It turns out, though, that the director is set to play a producing role on Wonder Woman 2.

Given how the theatrical cut of Justice League was hardly his movie at all, after Warner Bros. ordered replacement director Joss Whedon to reshoot much of the production, you’d think that Zack Snyder would have completely washed his hands with the DCEU. Especially now that we’ve heard he’s found his next project in the form of an adaptation of Ayn Rand’s The Fountainhead. It turns out, though, that the director is still set to play a producing role on Wonder Woman 2.

Snyder confirmed as much when a fan asked him on social media site Vero if he’d be a producer on the upcoming sequel to the 2017 success story. The filmmaker replied with a short but sweet, “Oh yes.”

For Snyder dissenters who love Wonder Woman, it’s worth remembering that the director actually played a key role in the smash hit movie. Not only did he produce it, but he also developed the story. And let’s not forget that he cast the brilliant Gal Gadot as Diana Prince in the first place for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. That was a left field choice that completely paid off, which we have Snyder to thank for.

But that was the first movie, and we don’t suppose he’ll have nearly as active of a role in the production of Wonder Woman 2. From what we’ve heard, there’s some bad blood between him and WB execs, so it’s unlikely he’d be invited back to put his stamp on the sequel. With that in mind, could his producer credit merely be a contractual one without any actual input?

We could theorize that, but Snyder’s reply, while simple, does read like he’s very excited and proud with his contribution to Wonder Woman 2. He gets on well with Gadot and director Patty Jenkins, after all, so perhaps he’ll play some tangible role in the film’s production. We wouldn’t hold our breath that this’ll lead to him directing Justice League 2, though.
