If you’re anything like us, you’ve been counting down the days until Armin Van Buuren releases his sixth studio album, Embrace. Leading up to the big day, the A State of Trance founder has released a Cosmic Gate collaboration from the effort titled “Embargo” – and it appears to be something of a departure from the themes of the rest of the songs.
“Embargo” rides the infinitesimally fine line between contemporary trance and progressive house. It features neither the instrumentals that are supposed to set Embrace apart from other trance albums nor the rolling bass kicks and high BPMs of more the genre’s more traditional side. Instead, it opts for a main stage-friendly production methodology that differs significantly from what we’ve heard so far from the album.
We’re certainly not complaining about variety, though, and Embrace looks to have plenty of it if. If you like what you hear on Armin Van Buuren and Cosmic Gate’s “Embargo” then stay tuned to see if the full album, which is slated for release on October 30th, will feature more of the same.
