Avicii Announces His Retirement From Live Shows And Touring

Some unfortunate news here today, folks, as Avicii has announced that at the end of 2016, he'll be retiring from touring and live shows. The producer has had to cancel tours in the past due to illness and it seems that it's finally gotten to the point where he can't deal with the touring lifestyle, which consists of constant travel and not much sleep.

Some unfortunate news here today, folks, as Avicii has announced that at the end of 2016, he’ll be retiring from touring and live shows.

The producer has had to cancel performances in the past due to illness and it seems that it’s finally gotten to the point where he can’t deal with the touring lifestyle anymore.

The Swedish DJ posted the following letter on his Facebook today explaining his decision:

So, he will still continue to make music, and has said in the past that he was hoping to release a follow up to Stories this year. He won’t, however, be making any further live appearances after 2016. At least not for a long, long time.

We wish Avicii all the best and are truly saddened that one of EDM’s most iconic, impactful and talented artists will be retiring from live shows. Tim Bergling was instrumental in bringing electronic dance music into the mainstream and has produced countless tracks that are, and always will be, bonafide classics.

For me, personally, he was my introduction into EDM and remains one of my favorite artists to this day. I can only hope that though Avicii is walking away from touring, he’ll never walk away from music all together.
