BBC Radio 1 has long been at the forefront of dance music culture. Curating the best music in the scene year-round, and consistently pushing quality programming, the station has been firmly cemented into the lore of electronic dance music.

After Losing Zane Lowe to Apple’s Beats 1 Radio, BBC has been forced to make a few changes to their family. Annie Mac stepped in to take over Lowe’s show, and Phil Taggart has filled in for Mac as host of Musical Hot Waterbottle. In addition to these staple series, residencies have remained a massive part of the station’s programming.

It’s a treat then to hear the new lineups for the year, and BBC Radio 1 has just announced their residency schedule for 2016, with more than a few changes. Several artists are welcomed back for the year, such as George FitzGerald and Steve Angello, but Nina Kraviz and Oliver Heldens have also been added to the list, unfortunately pushing out long-time mainstay Skream.
