We’ve already heard that trap pioneer Diplo is collaborating with Gucci Mane and Robert Plant on his upcoming album, but now it looks like Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are on that list as well. The “Biggie Bounce” producer took to Twitter to announce that the former couple would be “executive producing” his upcoming effort in no vague terms.

While Bieber is undoubtedly familiar with Diplo following their collaboration on Jack Ü’s “Where Are Ü Now,” the news arrives at a curious time. Bieber and Gomez were notoriously hostile after their breakup last year, but sources indicate that the two spoke after Selena’s recent breakup with EDM superstar Zedd. Could they be on good terms now? This news certainly indicates that they may be.

Similar to Jack Ü, Diplo’s upcoming album seems like an effort to cross-pollinate the fan bases of a wide-reaching pool of artists – a measure to ensure record sales that history has shown dilutes the poignance of the music itself. Whether this all works out in the end remains to be seen, but let us know in the comments section whether or not you think Biebs and Selena getting involved in Diplo‘s new album is a good idea.
