Don Diablo is back this week to offer up his newest remix, taking on Rihanna’s recently released single “Love On The Brain.” For his rework, Diablo delivers a solid reimagining of the Barbadian singer’s latest pop outing, trading in the doo-wop vibes from the original version for a surprising trap effort.
The Dutch DJ excises the 1950’s influenced sound of “Love On The Brain” in favor of a straight trap production. The verses feature jaunty piano chords and crashing beats, as Rihanna’s powerful vocal delivery takes center stage. Rolling hip hop snares and twinkling synths signal the impending build up, as white noise swells and skipping rhythms push the remix forward into the drops. Booming 808 kicks and skittering hi-hats serve up a solid beat as the pop star’s acapella is transformed into a catchy melody.
Eschewing his usual big room house style, Don Diablo manages to dream up a memorable remix of “Love On The Brain,” taking the song in a wholly different direction and breathing new life into it. With a thoroughly transformed production and some interesting vocal effects, the new rework is definitely worthy of a listen.
