In the five years since the world’s most successful virtual band, Gorillaz, released their last album The Fall, audiences have waited impatiently for news of a follow up effort. Speculation has swept the rumor mill for over a year now as fans clamored for any new information to surface, but now it looks like the wait may finally be drawing to a close as the cartoon four piece begin to gear up for their next studio LP with a social media story called The Book Of Noodle.

Taking to Instagram to share the story, Gorillaz have offered up a total of eleven new posts, four of which are text based and seven of which feature videos. Utilizing an eye catching visual style, the story focuses on band member Noodle, who must track down and behead a Japanese demon.

It’s certainly an interesting, if not cryptic approach to a viral marketing campaign and fans will no doubt be excited to see Gorillaz gaining momentum toward a new release. With the release of The Book Of Noodle, we hope to see some more information regarding the band’s upcoming fifth studio album coming out of the woodwork in the near future.
