Green Day emulates that sheer raw emotion in the live rendition of “Bang Bang,” and it measures up to the studio version without a flaw. Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong sounds at his best while manning the microphone, and with bassist Mike Dirnt’s booming bass lines, drummer Tre Cool doesn’t miss a beat. Overall, their “Bang Bang” TV debut does a great job at showing that rock still has a place on late night.

Television performances are probably going to be the norm for Green Day over the next couple of months as they continue to promote Revolution Radio, and with the authenticity they showcased on The Tonight Show, future TV gigs will be something to look out for.
