John Dahlback Swoops In With Raven

John Dahlback's "Raven" was recently premiered on Avicii's Le7els podcast, and it features a stylistic synthesis we haven't seen yet from the producer.

John Dahlback‘s house music credentials are certainly not up for debate, but you can’t deny that all of his own recent releases have leaned considerably toward mainstream progressive house. As more world-class artists adopt a sound that straddles the line, however, he’s followed suit – and “Raven” is the result of his efforts.

After all, the track features a distinct stylistic synthesis between main stage and more classic elements. A melodramatic rave piano topline that sounds similar to that of Oliver Heldens’ “Melody” sets the tone of this radio edit, but makes for a juxtaposed choice alongside an aggressive electro house drop. While the production is thoughtfully arranged and intelligently executed, it still sounds like something of an experiment for Dahlback.

Nonetheless, “Raven” has already received high-profile support. The track has been premiered on Avicii’s Le7els podcast, and will likely be played out substantially over the remainder of the festival season, as it’s a solid tune that should have no trouble getting people dancing.
