Major Lazer Team Up With Ellie Goulding For Powerful

Major Lazer is currently gearing up to release their new album. Titled Peace Is The Mission, it's set to drop on June 1st and boasts a number of big name collaborators. Already we've heard the excellent Lean On, which featured MØ and DJ Snake, and “Night Riders,” which brought in 2 Chainz, Pusha T, Travi$ Scott, and Mad Cobra. Now, we have the album's third track in the form of "Powerful."

UPDATE: Unfortunately the song has been pulled. We’ll be sure to update this post once another version surfaces. Sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Major Lazer is currently gearing up to release their new album. Titled Peace Is The Mission, it’s set to drop on June 1st and boasts a number of big name collaborators. Already, we’ve heard the excellent “Lean On,” which featured MØ and DJ Snake, and “Night Riders,” which brought in 2 Chainz, Pusha T, Travi$ Scott and Mad Cobra. Now, we have the album’s third track in the form of “Powerful.”

With Ellie Goulding on vocals and Tarrus Riley providing the hook, the song is certainly a bit of a departure for the dancehall group. Some of Major Lazer’s signature R&B/Jamaican roots are sprinkled throughout within the instrumentals, but for the most part, “Powerful” is a much more low key affair than we usually hear from Diplo, Walshy Fire and Jillionaire.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say that this is an out and out ballad, but it’s pretty damn close. It’s interesting, for sure, and will no doubt make its way onto the radio as it’s a lot more accessible than most of the group’s previous efforts.

Give “Powerful” a listen in the video above and let us know what you make of the latest track from Major Lazer.
