Nicki Minaj Unleashes “Black Barbies” Freestyle

To celebrate Rae Sremmurd’s sudden rise to a number one spot, Nicki Minaj spits some verses over the instrumental for their viral hit, “Black Beatles,” which is currently taking over the Internet via those “Mannequin Challenge” videos. This remix isn’t the first time Nicki's associated herself with the hip-hop duo - for their first record, SremmLife, she jumped on the track “Throw Sum Mo.” For the rework titled “Black Barbies,” she gets into a zone that lets her dish out her best.

A contrast to her last freestyle, “The Pinkprint Freestyle,” “Black Barbies” finds Minaj matching the original track’s vocal melodies, and her voice complements the instrumentation pretty well. Couple that with clever wordplay in the lyric department and her signature outlandish persona, and the Mike WiLL Made It-produced banger will get everyone wondering what the rapper is going to come out with next.

It’s been widely speculated that Nicki Minaj is gearing up to unveil a proper lead single to a forthcoming album – and she only added fuel to the fire when she began some cryptic teasing on social media earlier this month. Whatever happens, hopefully there’s a new burst of inspiration that stem from these freestyles, and it results in new music sooner rather than later.
